Industrial / Noise Rock Pioneer from Leicester, UK
Ann Arbor were a formidable industrial and noise rock band, blending the sharp, metallic rhythms of Shellac with the intense, programmed guitar onslaught of Godflesh.
Formed in 1999 in Leicester, they developed a unique sonic profile consisting of two musicians (Tim Waterfield on guitar, Matt Jones on bass) and a black box (a drum machine acting as the rhythmic engine). They delivered raw, heavy-duty instrumental tracks that contrasted with the polished productions of the era.
During their active years, they released two acclaimed albums (16 Bit and A Long Trip), splits with bands like Maybeshewill, and featured on notable compilations before going on hiatus.
